Cilj pri projektiranju je minimizirati masu i maksimizirati klju\u010dne veli\u010dine poput torzijske krutosti. Konstrukcijski materijali koji trenutno dominiraju su \u010delik i aluminij, a implementacija kompozitnih materijala u strukturi se\u00a0 intenzivno istra\u017euje. Poznavanje mehanike materijala i srodnih strojarskih grana, dinamike vozila i osnovnih in\u017eenjerskih principa je neophodno pri dizajnu, analizi i optimizaciji komponenti.
